Chennai celebrates as Jayalalithaa back home

Former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa, has reached Chennai on medical grounds. She was granted bail by the Supreme Court. Tamil Nadu chief minister, O Panneerselvam was at the Bangalore airport to received her. From there, she
flew to Chennai on a chartered plane.

Jayalalithaa, 66, followed the Supreme Court's directive and issued a statement on Friday evening, urging her party workers to remain calm and not resort to violence. She was convicted by a Bangalore court on September 27 for collecting land, gold and other assets vastly exceeding her income in a case that had dragged on for nearly two decades.
