UPSC CSAT row ends: MoS Personnel Jitendra Singh clarified that 20 marks of English in Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) II will not be included for merit and the candidates of 2011 will get another chance in 2015.

Arvind Verma committee too has recommended that the quality of English to Hindi translation in CSAT paper should be improved. CSAT, introduced in the prelim exam of the UPSC syllabus in 2011, has been the main bone of contention, which aspirants feel is biased towards technical and management students and it should be scrapped.

Row over Aptitude Test (CSAT) would be resolved within a week says Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to civil services aspirants. Students have been protesting for the past several weeks, the situation turned violent two days ago after the UPSC issued admit cards for the preliminary examination scheduled to be conducted on August 24. The government has set up a committee and the panel is likely to submit its report within a week. The aspirants today staged protests outside the Union Public Service Commission office and even burned admit cards.
