UPSC Aspirants Protesting

UPSC CSAT row ends: MoS Personnel Jitendra Singh clarified that 20 marks of English in Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) II will not be included for merit and the candidates of 2011 will get another chance in 2015.

Arvind Verma committee too has recommended that the quality of English to Hindi translation in CSAT paper should be improved. CSAT, introduced in the prelim exam of the UPSC syllabus in 2011, has been the main bone of contention, which aspirants feel is biased towards technical and management students and it should be scrapped.

The preliminary examination is divided into two parts - G S (General Studies) and CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test) and both the papers are of 200 marks. The General Studies consists of 100 questions and the CSAT of 80 questions. But the marks required to qualify General Studies is 30 whereas for CSAT it is 70.
